Model Answers:

How are you?

I’m fine, thank you

I’m good, thank you.

Can I see your ID please?

Sure, here you are.

Of course, here you go.

What are the benefits of being bilingual?

Being bilingual can be really useful if you are travelling. For example, being able to speak English is really useful, as a lot of people know this language as a second or first language.

Can you speak more than one language? Which languages do you speak and why?

I can speak Turkish and English fluently. I currently speak two languages (Turkish and English) and I speak English, because I started to learn it when I was a child. It has given me lots of opportunities - for example, the ability to work and study abroad in both the United States and in the UK.

Part 2:

Cue Card:

Part 2: Tell me about a place you visited

– Where it was – Why it is important to you – Why you visited there? – Extra: What are some common places to visit in your country?

The place I would like to talk about is Istanbul. I am from Ankara, but I visited Istanbul to see my uncle. It's really important to me, because my uncle is my dad's brother and we don't have time to see each other often. I visited him, becase he was not well and I wanted to visit him to keep his spirits up. I also met up with my cousins and we all went out for dinner.

My country, Turkey, has fantastic places to visit. Ankara is the capital, we have cities full of rich history, wonderful food, friendly people and lovely weather. The Turkish riviera is a fantastic place to visit during the summer or even late fall or sometimes spring. Resorts like Antalya, Alanya, Bodrum, Marmaris and so many more are beautiful. Some people like to visit Cappadocia or other interesting places that you may have heard of. We have lots of beautiful beaches, amazing food, great hotels and interesting relics or ancient monuments due to our long-standing history.

Part 3:

What is the transportation like in your country?

In my country people use buses or cars, there are also trams and a metro system in places like Istanbul. We also have trains and boats for some journeys.

What are some ways of travelling in a more green way?

To travel in a more green or economical way it is important to not take short trips using cars. You should walk when possible, as it's good for your health or use a bicycle.

What are the benefits of using public transportation?

Public transport can be safe, reliable, and a low cost way of getting around from place to place. It's important to use public transport when you can to save money, but more importantly reduce your carbon footprint.
